Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our vacation rental management company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. They will also be tasked with developing and implementing financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices. The owner also owns several other companies and would require oversight and execution of bookkeeping using Quickbooks Online. The majority of the job will focus on Chady Vacation Rentals.

Responsibilitie

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and maintain annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying trends and variances and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Manage the company's financial accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual external audit process.
  • Provide financial analysis and support to senior management and department heads as required.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information to management, board of directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Oversee tax management and payments, including coordination with an outside CPA firm for filing.
  • Provide data reporting on real estate markets, including providing comparative analysis in markets and analyzing new purchase models.
  • Work with the owner to steer the companies in a profitable direction.
  • Update forecasting and pricing weekly.
  • Prepare KPI financials and work closely with marketing to analyze spending.
  • Work with marketing to prepare specials and drive demand for low periods.
  • Optimize room occupancy while maintaining or increasing the average nightly rate for weekdays and weekends.
  • Consult with executive staff members of all companies to create a net positive cash flow.
  • Report on and demonstrate industry performances for all companies.
  • Analyze new investment opportunities for acquisitions and expansions.
  • Provide consultation for optimizing revenue and margins.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a financial controller role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, and financial analysis.
  • Experience managing financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to steer companies strategically into profitability.

Salary and Benefits

  • The target annual salary for this position is between $70,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. An additional bonus will be offered $5,000+ based on company performance and optimization.
  • The successful candidate will be eligible for benefits, including health insurance and paid holidays.
